What’s In And What’s Out For Fall Fashion 2025:

I still getting inquiries about the newest fall fashion trends, so even though the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is over, it is obvious that it got us all excited about the season. As we look through our closets and decide what goes and what stays, as well as what we might want to add in anticipation of fall, everyone wants to know what is in and what is out.

While we are leaning into the tendencies that were marginal last season, I think we are seeing many of the same trends this fall as we did last year. There is a lot of overlap with the fall fashion trends list from the previous season, but some of those were difficult to locate in the mainstream retailers this early in the fall, and I am seeing those aspects.

When talking about fashion trends, I have to make a few disclaimers as usual. Initially, I am examining mainstream stores that are frequently visited by the average woman who reads this blog. Depending on where you reside, you might think that some of these are already outdated or that no one is wearing them yet, yet they are all widely available at major retail establishments like Anthropologie, LOFT, Evereve, and others.

Of course, you do not have to wear something simply because it ishaving a moment. You can use this information however you see fit. Stylish ladies are aware of current trends and carefully select pieces to add to their collections that best suit their preferences and body types.

Last but not least, this is by no means a comprehensive list of fall trends. Although there are many items that I have not included here that are still in style, these are the ones that most appeal to me and fit my aesthetic.

Regardless of what thetrend reportssuggest, you should ultimately wear what you enjoy. Here are 12 wearable fall fashion trends for the average lady in 2024, nevertheless, if you like to stay up-to-date.

  1. Jeans with wide legs

We will talk about more denim trends later this week, but if you are not into wide-leg jeans, pretty much anything goes right now. Looking current is more about how you style your jeans than what style you wear. Yes, my friends, wide-leg silhouettes are still dominating the denim departments at my favorite retailers, and I am slowly starting to see more everyday women embracing them. I am also seeing more full-length styles arriving on the scene for fall, which I am very happy about because they are elongating and flattering on most women.

My fall wardrobe would not be complete without outfit-completing coats, and cropped jackets are making a resurgence this year, most likely due to their excellent compatibility with wide-leg and high-rise denim designs. They also look good with straight-leg jeans and flares. Denim is also available, and I am seeing combinations of wool and twill. Skirts are making a comeback as a key wardrobe item for autumn 2024 after being neglected for a few years. Denim skirts come in a wide variety of lengths, but the long, straight designs are the most popular. Pleated skirts are becoming more popular, and satiny bias-cut skirts are still in style. Mini skirts are also in style.

Skirts can be worn dressily or casually, and they go well with everything from sneakers to knee boots, and pointy-toe slingbacks to squared-off Mary Janes.

For spring, vests were very popular, although they were a little difficult to locate, and the best ones quickly ran out. They are everywhere this fall. Suit vests, like the one above, are popular right now, and sweater vests are also still very popular.

This fall, wear your vests as stand-alone shirts and layer them over a t-shirt or tank. Regarding what to wear with them, I am seeing a lot of vests—both suit and sweater vests—paired with denim skirts, as seen in the picture above. They also look fantastic with jeans, or you may pair them with matching or non-matching pants for a business or social suit. Even in the fall, stripes—especially Breton stripes—remain popular. There are many alternatives for varying widths and positioning to fit any body type, and it is a really simple way to add a piece to your present wardrobe.

Although there are many red tops and dresses available, I think it is more appropriate to add a red accessory as a pop of color. Try a red ball cap, a red Mary Jane (as seen above), a red sling bag, a red belt, or even a red sneaker. We will talk more about color trends later this week. Relaxed trousers still going strong this season, and the most fashion-forward way to wear them is with sneakers for that chic element of juxtaposition, but this is also good news for those who need work wear. There are so many good non-denim options out right now. If you don’t like the relaxed silhouettes, you can find straight and flared styles, as well. The LOFT Sutton Flares that I styled last spring are back for fall in a subtle brown and black checked pattern. This season, pointed-toe flats, ballet flats, Mary Janes, and kitten heels—particularly slingback styles—are all popular again. Wear them with skirts or dresses to embrace theperiod of elegancethat is rapidly gaining traction, or with jeans for a stylish element of contrast. The trend pendulum is undoubtedly swinging back to more fascinating features and less minimalistic styles, but I have not seen this mentioned in any of the trend lists I have seen. I observed this while browsing all of my favorite retailers: knitwear has a lot more texture and pattern. This season, brown hues—particularly rich chocolatey ones—are dominating the footwear market. It is coming in strong for fall 2024, and I am all for it. I noticed this last year. I think these deeper, warmer tones are really fun and refreshing after wearing so much taupe and light beige for years. Additionally, they go well with the darker denim hues that are returning this season. Although there are undoubtedly more fall fashion trends for 2024, these are some of the most well-known ones that I have already observed. In other posts, I will go into greater detail about shoe, color, denim, and accessory trends.

Keep in mind that trends are just that. Some stay longer than others, and they come and go. Simply avoid it if it is not your style. Uncertain? Before investing in a more costly item, try it out with something less costly. However, if any of those trends appeal to you, you may want to focus more on them in the upcoming months.

Due to the rapidity of trend cycles, I nearly removed this section this year because nothing is trulyout.Instead, some of us could find particular trends stale, or they might not be as common in stores. Therefore, this list should be regarded with caution, much asWhat is IN for 2024.”

Low shaft shoes

Wearing your favorite low-shaft taupe ankle boots with side cutouts is quite acceptable. You are who you are. But I think this is an excellent place to start if you want to know some of the designs that are now losing ground to the hottest trends. Boots and shoes in taupe // The warmer tones and deeper browns are more in style right now, but it is not like you do not see any of these selections or that they do not appear outdated. Since practically every shoe design is currently available in brown, they are also a simple method to change your footwear.

Low shaft shoes. Although we became accustomed to thinking of lower shaft booties (3 or 4 shafts) as the standard since they went so well with the ankle-length skinny jeans that ruled the fashion scene for so long, they are less classic than the ankle boots with the more conventional 5 or 6 shafts. Additionally, higher-shaft ankle boots are making a comeback now that flares and wide legs are popular.

Jeggings, Low-rise skinny jeans are currently very much on the fringe; therefore, it is unclear if they will ever make a comeback into the mainstream, despite the rumors that they are. In contrast to the skintight legging style (jeggings) that we wore with long tunics and low-shaft ankle boots in the 2010s, skinny jeans are now more commonly worn with a higher rise and a slender straight cigarette leg.
